Karl Rove says, "Enough with the debates!" Done with Iraq? A good idea from Rick Perry! Ryan Seacrest, Tim Tebow and Ron Paul!!!

Republican Debates:
Did you see this past Saturday's debate? I did. Am I the only one who thought that at the beginning of the broadcast that Diane Sawyer sounded like she was auditioning for a dramatic stage play of some kind? To be fair, as time went on, she "dialed it down", but....
After last Saturday's GOP debate, Karl Rove decided he'd seen and heard enough and he wrote a column for the Wall Street Journal about his complaints. For those of you who don't know, Karl Rove was a trusted associate of George W. Bush when Bush was serving two terms as president. Sean Hannity refers to Rove as "The Architect" as in, being the brains behind Bush's successes. Laura Bush has publicly stated a different view. When asked about how Rove has been described, she said, "He (Rove) likes to think he was."
Except for one of the debates, I've watched every minute of all the other debates and I will be watching tonight's debate as well. If there is something worth mentioning after the debate has ended, I will add it to this blog before it gets posted.
Governor Perry's Idea! An Idea That Deserves Being Listened To and Debated!
As most folks know, GOP candidate, Governor Rick Perry has had some tough moments during these debates, but in the last couple of debates, he's come up with something that I think is worth taking a serious look at. If I'm understanding him correctly, in essence, he's saying that if he is elected to be our next president, he will be trying to turn members of the House and of the Senate into part time workers and I think he's also advocating term limits. When he said these things, no moderator or other candidate asked a question or made a comment about his idea. Maybe the moderators and candidates took the position that it was simply some other dumb thing that Perry had said and decided to ignore it. It's also possible and perhaps probable that the candidates and moderators didn't hear what Perry said because it wasn't about THEM and they were too busy thinking about what THEY were going say.
I respectfully disagree with that kind of thinking. Something needs to be done in the way of a "Gee, no one ever EXPLAINED it to me that way before!" to make these House members and Senate members feel like they've gotten an attention getting hot poker shoved up their backsides so they'll (hopefully) decide to quit doing things for manipulative cash carrying LOBBYISTS and get BACK to doing things for the American people who voted for them!
Gang there's a reason that the people who are lowest in the polls are members of the House and members of the Senate. And isn't it long past time to pass legislation that prevents lobbyists from being allowed within 500 yards of an elected politician. You know, like lawmakers do to stalkers?!?
Just sayin'. And just askin'.
And How About That Ron Paul?
76 years old, still kicking up a storm, has a ton of young people who like what he has to say and he's beginning to climb up in the polls. Gang, I interviewed Ron Paul a few times on a radio show of mine a few years ago. He's a very interesting guy, he is an "America First" kind of guy (as am I), he's against the wars (as am I), but like a lot of other people, he has some declared views in his past that to me, are troubling. No reason for me to get into those "views" unless he becomes a more of a "contender" than he is now, buuuut....
Just sayin'.
TONIGHT'S GOP DEBATE:
I just now finished watching the Republican debate(s) from Iowa on the Fox News Channel.
I think this was the best debate show of them all.
Yes, Governor Rick Perry brought up his idea (again) about reigning in House members and Senate members and it elicited one small and unimportant response/question from one of the moderators. To me, this is a subject that deserves serious discussion(s). Perry also seemed to be the most relaxed that he's ever been and he had the two funniest lines of the night.
I know that Michele Bachmann is a big "believer" in what she says, but because she has said so many things BEFORE these debates began that were wrong, wrong, wrong, (and continues to do so) she, more times than not, comes across as a pleasant wack-job.
As of now, I don't see Santorum, Bachmann or Huntsman being around much longer unless they're able to miraculously pull a whole bunch of rabbits out of hats. Buuut, we've all been surprised, haven't we?
THE IRAQ WAR:
A war that never should have happened has (allegedly) ended. Thousands of Americans troops were killed and more thousands suffered permanent life changing injuries. For WHAT?!? Weapons of mass destruction? DIDN'T EXIST!!! Because Iraq had something to do with 9/11? TOTALLY BOGUS!!! So why did we send troops there and spend billions on top of billions of dollars? And we will continue to spend billions of dollars because of all the severe injuries troops will need lifetime care for. And I again ask the question, FOR WHAT?!? If there really is an afterlife presided over by a God, I would expect that God to ask George W. Bush and Dick Cheney that same question. Same deal with this stupid war we're involved with in Afghanistan.
ENTERTAINMENT STUFF:
Tim Tebow. What he's been doing is about as entertaining as it gets, isn't it? This Sunday, on CBS, Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos will be playing against the great Tom Brady and the New England Patriots and I think this will be the highest (television) rated football game of the year.
Ryan Seacrest. Most of you have heard about him, right? The host of "American Idol", the Rockin' New Years Eve" show, the producer of the Kardashian shows, his radio show, etc., etc. We are now being told that some NBC executives are kicking around the idea of Seacrest taking Matt Lauer's place on The Today Show late next year. A number of NBC people are complaining about it because they can't imagine a guy like Seacrest having what it takes to be the host of a show like The Today Show. I don't know if he would be a successful fit, but I do know that he's been successful at everything else he's tried. Meanwhile, the new season of American Idol will begin soon.
In other television news, Chris Meloni has found a new job. Meloni played the role of Detective Elliot Stabler for many years on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" until he was offered a pay cut for a new contract that he declined. Meloni has been hired to be a series regular on the new season of HBO's "True Blood". Meloni will be playing an ancient, powerful vampire who every one of the show's major characters will have to answer to.
Another great episode of "The Good Wife" this past Sunday. It was nice to see the characters played by Julianna Margulies and Chris Noth being assertive again. The Noth scene was especially powerful.
"Boss", starring Kelsey Grammer and a bunch good supporting characters, wrapped up their first season last Friday with one of the main characters getting killed.
A 90-minute season finale of "Homeland" will be shown on Showtime this Sunday. "Homeland" is a GREAT show and it along with several of the actors, figure to get serious award nominations. A 60-minute season finale of "Dexter" will also be shown on Showtime this Sunday.
The Fox show "Glee" presented a wonderful Christmas show this past Tuesday. If you missed it, but you have "On Demand" privileges, I highly recommend you taking advantage of it and watching the "Glee" show.
A lot of shows are on hiatus because of the holidays.
I saw one film this past week. "The Mechanic", a 2011 film on Showtime. It stars Jason Statham, Ben Foster, Donald Sutherland and Tony Goldwyn. Non stop action film. Great popcorn flick.
