The "Party of No" LOVES Obama when he authorizes deficit increasing BILLIONS for TWO STUPID UNWINNABLE WARS!!!

Isn't the right side of the political aisle the side that's been doing all the bitching about the spending that is contributing to our rapidly increasing deficit during these dire economic times we're all facing?

We went to Iraq based on lies! We were told we were going to Afghanistan to hunt down Osama bin Laden and that we'd get help from Pakistan, an "ally" of ours. And we know they are an "ally" of ours because....WHY? Well, because we've been giving them billions of dollars of "aid money", THAT's why!

By now, I'm sure you've read or heard about the WikiLeaks documents. Almost 92,000 classified documents tell us (in essence) that we've been "played" by both Pakistan and Afghanistan.

A reader of this blog sent me the story about these documents and what I am going to print now is my word for word response to this blog reader that I'm grateful to. A select few of you have already seen this, but what you haven't seen is a response I got to my response from a blog reader who's pretty well known in this, The City of Angels.

Okay...Here's my response:

Hi Pat,

When I was in St. Louis briefly doing a radio thing on their ABC station while trying to produce a film around the time "W" was getting reelected, I was yelling about this so-called "ally" of ours, Pakistan. I have continued to yell about it on my blog. I haven't been as specific about it in the last few months (maybe longer) because I've (in a sense) sort of given up and accepted what the musical group "Chicago" sang, "Does anybody know what time is, does anyone really care?!?"

The people I got my information from were former intelligence officials in the Bush administration and former Black Ops warriors who identified themselves and who felt their hands had been tied by the Bush folks and who had kept their mouths shut until they quit in disgust.

What I continued to write about in this blog was based on information from those (to me) great patriots.

Eventually, this kind of stuff tends to get leaked on a grand scale, like the Pentagon Papers, etc. and the people who feel they have eggs on their faces are people who should have (and I believe did) know/known about this and now we will hear howling from people like Mrs. Clinton and other members of the Obama and Bush administrations about how this kind of information is "damaging" to us, our troops, etc., etc.

The talk show enablers will howl about this, blame it all on Obama, ignore when most of this was really happening and as we used to say in the rock 'n roll world, "The beat goes on!"

I've said it before and I'll say it again; Accurately considering the conditions we (our leaders) face in that area and in a slightly smaller sense, the Iraq area and have (seemingly) blindly accepted, we are now finally faced with TRUTH that will be howled about and slanted in such a way that people responsible for revealing this truth will be labeled as being treasonous, etc. when in fact we NEVER had any business going to war in Iraq and the ONLY business we had in Afghanistan was for the purpose we were originally told which was to hunt down Osama bin Laden and as I've often stated; "How's THAT going so far?!?"

Pat, thanks for sending me this. In this little corner of mine, you're talkin' to a guy who is simply noddin' his head.

I will be sending copies of this to select others who read this blog, and I'll be asking these readers to take a few seconds to think about the state of our current economy, our huge deficit and how much TWO UNNECESSARY WARS IN WHICH NO TAXES WERE LEVIED TO PAY FOR are in fact responsible for a good portion of the disastrous economic condition the United States of America is in.

Okay...That's the response note I sent to the reader who was kind enough to send me the WikiLeaks Documents info.

As I mentioned, I sent my response note to a few select readers of this blog. One of the responses to my response is a response I'd like to share with you.

You readers outside the Los Angeles area may not be familiar with the person who sent me the response I'm about to share with you, but most of you in the Los Angeles area are very familiar with the name, Joe McDonnell.

Joe McDonnell is known as the "Dean" of sports talk broadcasters in this here, City of the Angels. For many years, he co-hosted a very popular show with Doug Krikorian. And I mean, very popular! Joe and Doug. It was "appointment radio" here. And I'm proud to say that I'm the guy who first put 'em, side by side.

Joe McDonnell recently went through a very rough health situation. In fact, he almost died. Because of a disease involving his flesh being eaten.

Gruesome, huh?

And according to Joe, quite painful.

Thanks to round the clock help from the medical professionals and his "Angel" wife, Elizabeth, Joe has taken a serious turn for the better. Elizabeth says that Joe has improved because he's a stone cold fighter and Joe says he's improved because he's the luckiest son of a bitch in the world to have gotten "Angel Elizabeth" to say, "Yes!" to his, "Will you marry me?" proposal.

When I sent Joe a copy of what was sent to me and my response to that, Joe, showing that he really is a lot better, sent me a reply.

I began my note to Joe with, "Joe, I hope you're feeling better."

And here is Joe's reply:

I'm doing much better. Thanks!

Not surprised by the revelations...not one tiny, little, microscopic bit. And from an economic standpoint...there's nothing more damaging to an economy than excessive (unnecessary) military spending. Money going out for something that can't be bought by anyone...so it's truly a bottomless pit. What are we getting out of this? So far, absolutely nothing. We're in two wars we can't win and we're bankrupting the country. Obama has to stop listening to his advisers and do the right thing and get us out of there...now! Bleep those people! Let them kill themselves if they want. Enough of our people have died...and as you mention...not in the pursuit of Osama. Obama better get his head out of his ass...realize he's being played by the military...something they tried with Kennedy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. But JFK had the balls to tell them to shut the bleep up and he'd make the final decisions. Does Obama have the balls, or did he just talk a good game to get elected? I guess we'll see shortly. Keep telling the truth!

Joe, believe me, I will certainly continue to try to tell the truth and hope there's a different version of the "Chicago" song that will go something like this; "We DO know what time it is and we DO really care!!!"

And Joe? The sports talk entertainment quotient has really gotten low. Hurry up and get better-better so we can all be entertained again.

AND NOW SOME SHORTER ITEMS...

As I'm sure you've heard, a federal judge has knocked out some of the stuff in the new Arizona Illegal Immigration law.

Short commentary: There's no other way to put this, gang. What that judge did is another example of bowing to the "Entitlement Crowd". The crowd that believes that they don't need to learn English unless they feel like it. The crowd that believes they don't have to be, "Americans, first". The crowd that believes they are "entitled" to free medical care, free education and if they get stopped by the police for something, they don't need to show the police identification, because that would be "racial profiling".

I could go on and on, but illegal immigrant enablers here in California need to "wake up and smell the coffee", because new statistics that just came out show that we here in California are shelling out more than 20 BILLION DOLLARS a year to pay for what these illegal immigrants are "entitled to".

What a country, huh? The "entitlement illegal immigrant crowd" gets all that money. The "entitlement war lobby crowd" gets all that money. The "entitlement financial institutions crowd" got all that money. Or are they still getting it? I lose track.

Bottom line: And we WONDER why we're going broke as a nation? Or are we already broke? I lose track.

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

This was sent to me by Illinois blog reader, Dave Acocks. It's a quote from P.J. O'Rourke.

"When buying and selling are controlled by legislation, the FIRST things bought and sold are legislators!"

Think about it, folks. And thank you, David Acocks.

ENTERTAINMENT STUFF:

I don't know how entertaining anyone thinks Mel Gibson is these days, but because he has been a big time actor, director and producer I'm just going to throw something out there about him, in this, our entertainment section of the blog.

What he said about Jews after he got busted on a DUI violation is/was inexcusable. Some of the things that he is alleged to have said to his former girlfriend are indefensible.

Buuut....Investigators are not just looking at Gibson. They're also looking at the girlfriend about alleged extortion possibilities. Why? Because this girl has a bit of a "history".

Bottom line? This appears to be a classic case of two people who were meant to get together, did get together and surprise, surprise, look at what the results were. Allegedly!

Okay...Now some so-called real entertainment related stuff.

On HBO the other night, I finally saw Michael Mann's latest film, "Public Enemies". It stars Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and the very lovely (and current "it girl"), Marion Cotillard.

I didn't see it in a Cineplex because I thought I would be disappointed. I was wrong. It's not a great film, but it is an entertaining film and if you haven't seen it, I recommend that you look for it on cable.

"Inception": The film that so many people are talking and writing about. I went to the Cineplex very much prepared to like this film. A lot!

As I'm sure you know, this was directed by Christopher Nolan and the film features a who's who list of actors led by Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page and Marion Cotillard.

This film is a little more than two and a half hours long and I nodded off only (I think) three times.

Not because of the acting. The actors were first rate.

I simply didn't think this film was very good. I was sitting in an almost half filled Cineplex and you could have heard a pin drop from the time this film began to when it ended.

A lot of guns are fired in this film. I really think the primary purpose of all the shooting was to keep people awake.

As I stated, I think the acting was first rate, but what those fine actors were dealing with is something that all actors (me included) have had burned into their brain(s) and that is; "If it ain't on the page, it ain't on the stage!" and I did not think it was "on the page" and I do think it's the most overrated film I've seen in quite some time.

"Salt": This is the new Angelina Jolie film. It's an action-adventure film that was originally meant for Tom Cruise to star in, but it is Angelina Jolie who plays this "man's" role.

Liev Schrieber and a number of other fine actors are also in this film.

We have a very fine film critic named Kenneth Turan who writes for the L.A. Times here. In his review of "Salt" he (in essence) said that much of this film is preposterous, but that he thought it was a fun film and that Angelina Jolie was a perfect choice to play this part.

I totally agree with Mr. Turan. I thought Angelina Jolie was flat out terrific as "Salt" and this film is nothing more than what it's meant to be. A good old fashioned popcorn film. Nonstop
action, some fun "twists" that I didn't see coming and at the end of film, we are led to believe there will be a sequel. And if there is, I will be one of the first people in line to see it.

Because Of Show Business Obligations, There Will Be No New Blog Until Late At Night, July 28!!!

Hi Gang,

Sincerest apologies about no blog this week. I need to have proper rest to take care of some show business obligations.

Among other topics when I write next week will be:

My thoughts on the new film, "Inception".

Because of the disgraceful "look the other way" policies carried out by the last two Pope people, here is something to think about; If Roman Polanski were a priest while these two people were the leaders of the Catholic Church, he'd still be working for the Church. (Thank you long time Catholic, Maureen Dowd)

Latino leaders are doing strategy sessions to come up with the best measures to use that will keep incumbant political supporters of the new Arizona law from getting reelected.

What does this mean? To me it means, these Latino leaders are making it clear that they are supporting lawbreakers. When they say it's more complicated than that, they're lying. There is only one question to be answered here; Are you here legally or illegally? If you are here legally, no problem. If you are here illegally, are we supposed to care it makes some kind of difference you've been here illegally a long time?!? All that means is that you've been getting away with breaking the law a long time. Anything else is conversation. Useless conversation.

On a personal note in next week's blog, I'll tell you about the most fun I've had on a film set in a long, long time.

And I'll also give you an example of how much (as Bob Dylan once stated) "The Times, They Are A Changin'!"

Late next Wednesday night, July 28!!!

Mel Gibson, LeBron James, Newt Gingrich, George Steinbrenner, Ronald Reagan, John McCain and KABC!!!

Hi Gang! Because of show business obligations, this blog will be a short blog. The names I listed in the headline of this blog are names a lot of people are talking about.

The KABC reference, has to do with the Dodgers and wondering if the McCourt divorce situation which seems to have caused the team to not have money to spend on some good players also might have resulted in the hiring of someone who might be a cheap hire, but not a quality hire to be the current so-called executive producer of Dodger baseball.

I mean, I wrote about the Vin Scully debacle many weeks ago and now something else has gotten my attention. Briefly, the story is this; Just before the All-Star break, the Dodgers played a 4-game series with the Cubs. In one of those games, the Cubs' manager was thrown out of the game in between innings of that game. In other words, if you weren't paying attention, you might not have realized that the Cubs' manager had been thrown out of the game. A couple of innings later, a coach for the Cubs went to the mound to replace a pitcher. That is a task that is always handled by the manager. KABC Dodger play by play guy, Charlie Steiner wondered why a coach was removing a pitcher and not the manager.

Was this Steiner's fault or was it the so-called Executive Producer's fault for not making sure Steiner knew that the manager was kicked out of the game two innings earlier? Or is it possible that neither guy knew that the Cubs' manager had been thrown out of the game because neither guy was paying attention. If the so-called Executive Producer hasn't learned his lesson since he allowed Vin Scully to repeatedly make the same mistake about something Manny Ramirez had done, the people who are responsible for the hiring of the so-called Executive Producer are guilty of not making sure the so-called Executive Producer of Dodger baseball has been given a refresher course regarding the responsibilities the so-called Executive Producer is supposed to be carrying out.

But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe no one associated with the Dodgers or KABC cares what the so-called Executive Producer of Dodger baseball does or doesn't do. And if that's the case, we now have a better understanding about the low ratings that station has.

After THAT shot, these SHORT shots:

Mel Gibson: How can a guy who's been blessed with the talent he's been blessed with, be so bleeping stupid?!?

LeBron James: I don't have a problem with him leaving Cleveland or being a part of that silly special ESPN put together, but I have a SERIOUS problem with the way so-called journalist Jim Gray "sold out" with the lamest questions anyone has ever heard from ANY "reporter" EVER!!!

Newt Gingrich: He says he's seriously considering a run to be President of the United States in 2012. Well, if he does, I wonder how much he'll talk about "family values"? I ask that question because his very public record shows that he seems to have NO "family values" at all!

George Steinbrenner: At the age of 80, he died yesterday. From a distance, a lot of people felt that Steinbrenner was (among other things) a bully. A very rich bully, but a bully, nonetheless. We have now learned, that he was an off the charts charitable guy who refused to allow people to say where millions of charity dollars were coming from. Which were from him!

Steinbrenner was one of those George Patton kind of giants and he will be remembered for a very long time.

READING TIPS:

In the new (July 19) issue of Newsweek, there are two commentaries I recommend that you read. Jacob Weisberg's column on page 21 that is headlined, "McCain's Burden" and it's subtitled, "He bears the shame of picking Sarah Palin." It's a very good commentary, folks.

As is Andrew Romano's 4-page commentary that's headlined, "What Would Reagan REALLY Do?" The commentary is subtitled, "Some Republicans Want To Impose A Reaganite Purity Test On This Fall's Candidates. Today, Though, The 40th President Himself Wouldn't Pass It."

Gang, this is a GREAT commentary and it begins on page 32 of this week's Newsweek. I knew Ronald Reagan. But Reagan revisionists like Sean Hannity and his ilk tend to ignore facts regarding what he really did so that the fools among their audience believe stuff that simply never happened and they're not told stuff that did happen even though some of that stuff was very beneficial to all of us.

Check it out! Whether you agree or disagree with this commentary, I think you'll find it to be a very good read.

IN CLOSING...

As I mentioned at the beginning of this blog, show business obligations force me to keep this week's blog relatively brief. The final item is a piece sent to me by WWII combat veteran and legendary radio guy, Bill Mouzis. The title of his piece is, "Stimulating".

And here it is:

Sometime this year, we taxpayers may again receive another 'Economic Stimulus' payment.

This is indeed a very exciting program, and I'll explain it by using a Q & A format:

Q: What is an 'Economic Stimulus' payment?

A: It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.

Q: Where will the government get this money?

A: From taxpayers.

Q: So the government is giving me back my own money?

A: Only a smidgen of it.

Q: What is the purpose of this payment?

A: The plan is for you to use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

Q: But isn't that stimulating the economy of China?

A: Shut up.

Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the U.S. economy by spending your stimulus check wisely:

If you spend the stimulus money at Wal-Mart, the money will go to China or Sri Lanka.

If you spend it on gasoline, your money will go to the Arabs or Hugo Chavez.

If you purchase a computer, it will go to India, Taiwan or China.

If you purchase fruit and vegetables, it will go to Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala.

If you buy an efficient car, it will go to Japan or Korea.

If you purchase useless stuff, it will go to Taiwan.

If you pay your credit cards off, or buy stock, it will go to management bonuses and they will hide it offshore.

Instead, keep the money in America by:

(1) Spending it at yard sales, or

(2) Going to ball games, or

(3) Spending it on prostitutes, or

(4) Beer or

(5) Tattoos.

These are the only American businesses still operating in the U.S.

CONCLUSION:

Go to a ball game with a tattooed prostitute that you met at a yard sale and drink beer all day!

No need to thank me, I'm just glad I could be of help.

Sarcasm noted and thank you, brother military veteran, Bill Mouzis!

It's Time to call out the Rich & Powerful regarding Illegal Immigrants! This lawsuit against Arizona is SO WRONG!!! No on Elena Kagan!

First of all, I hope you all had a very nice 4th of July extended weekend.

More fireworks on Tuesday, the day after the holiday ended, huh? The lawsuit filed by our federal government against the state of Arizona because of that illegal immigration bill they passed?

Our Attorney General, Eric H. Holder, speaking for President Obama said, "Setting immigration policy and enforcing immigration law is a national responsibility. A patchwork of state laws will only create more problems than it solves."

Short commentary: Is that so, Mr. Attorney General? This "national responsibility" you refer to regarding this very serious illegal immigration problem? How's THAT working out, sir?

Look, here's what appears to be the deal, gang. This is a brazen attempt to get Latino votes. And you legal Latino supporters of this lawsuit should be ashamed of yourselves.

Read my lips: 12 million, 20 million or whatever the hell the number is...Millions upon millions of illegal immigrants with more coming everyday is AWFUL for our country! Absolutely, no wiggle room, AWFUL!!! This B.S. that's spouted about the "benefits" these illegals provide has to do with one part of our country and one part only. BIG BUSINESS!!!

Have you heard any big time CEO's taking a stand on illegal immigrants? Of course not! WHY? Because too many of those greedy bastards are getting rich-ER by providing "cover" for these lawbreakers and having to pay only "slave wages" to these illegal's. Do you think a greedy bastard CEO gives two poops about the amount of money we taxpayers pony up for the free medical care, education, etc, etc. these illegal's get?

Why isn't anyone "calling out" the rich and the powerful about this subject? I mean, by asking them direct questions about the "position" they take regarding the illegal immigrant situation! And it would only take a minute or two. Example: Mr. or Ms. Rich and or Powerful Persons, do you believe we should enforce our immigration laws or should we give them all a "blanket amnesty"?

It's as simple as that, gang. How quickly do you think our illegal immigrant problem would (in essence) be solved if Mr. or Ms. Rich and or Powerful
Persons answered that question by saying, "Enforce our immigration laws!" And if their answer was, "We should give them all a blanket amnesty!"? Welll, here's MY answer to THAT; May God have mercy on all of us.

ABSOLUTE BOTTOM LINE: Gang, my position isn't about racism or anything else one might consider when possibly looking for some sort of nefarious reason or reasons for thinking the way I do. My position is a rule of law position that is strengthened by the concern that if we don't put a stop to this, we are in great danger of becoming a Third World Country.

TRUTH VS. FICTION!!!

A lot of people are finding it easy to blame President Obama for the illegal immigration mess and some other messes.

At the risk of popping a few balloons that quite frankly need to be popped, I'll start with this;

In my view, President Obama is dead wrong to be filing this lawsuit against Arizona. Let us not forget that George W. Bush was on the verge of providing amnesty for millions of immigrant lawbreakers until you, the people, rose up and collectively said (in essence), "Hold on, Bro! (Bush) Not now, you don't! Or EVER!"

You the people were heard, and he backed off.

President Obama is being blamed for the economic mess we're in. I fail to see where he has helped it any, but let us not forget (I don't) we watched our economy under George W. Bush's administration head straight for the crapper for the whole 8-years he was there, especially the last 4 years.

We hear a lot of complaining about President Obama and the "stimulus packages". Let us not forget that the first "stimulus packages" were under the direction of George W. Bush.

Have the stimulus packages helped? I'm not smart enough to know the answer to that question, but I am smart enough to see what I see and WHAT I see, is NOT a recession. To me, we're in a DEPRESSION! I know that those of you who read as much as I do have read the recent reports and analysis from experts who share my view. I say, "share MY view" because I wrote a lot about my depression beliefs near the end of Bush's second term and I think we're still in that position now.

Can we get out of this? We better!

Republican Chairman Michael Steele saying that Afghanistan is "Obama's War" is laughable in a sense, but in another sense, he's not completely wrong.

President Bush sent us to Afghanistan to find Osama bin Laden. More than 9 years later, we still haven't found him and if President Obama is continuing this war for that reason, he's an idiot. But quite frankly, anyone who saw what happened to the Russians when they spent a bunch of years there and still decided to send OUR troops to Afghanistan, I can't help but wonder what you call the person who made THAT decision? Idiot squared?

MY CURRENT POSITION ON PRESIDENT OBAMA...

As I said before the last presidential election and as I've said since, for the first time in my life, I supported a Democrat to be President of the United States a little more than a year and a half ago and for the first time in my life, I ended up VOTING for a Democrat. THIS Democrat!

I know that he inherited a mess. It wasn't a George W. Bush mess, it was a mess that began to percolate at least 30 years ago. I didn't expect a miracle from Obama the day he become our new president, but a year and a half later, I would expect SOME sign of progress. I'm sure he would say he HAS made some progress and maybe he has, but it isn't the kind of progress that seems to be beneficial to most of us as opposed to what appears to be (maybe) a small handful of us.

Right now, I am very disappointed in President Obama. He still has time to pull some rabbits out of a hat and end up looking like a guy we should give four more years to, but right now, if he continues with this lawsuit against the state of Arizona and is in fact, SUCCESSFUL?!?

Gang, if that were to happen, I don't care how many legal or illegal votes he gets, he won't have a chance to be elected "community organizer".

One more President Obama thought; Elana Kagan to be the next new Supreme Court Justice? Bad, bad choice. VERY bad choice! She is expected to be approved, but if she's rejected, I have another Democrat he might want to consider. That very big time lawyer who argued that big Gay Marriage trial. He's a "star" lawyer who has done a ton of successful work in courtrooms. To the best of my knowledge, the only time Elena Kagan has been in a courtroom was as a guest or a visitor.

What is this big time lawyer's name that I'm referring to? I'll let that be your homework assignment.

SOME QUICK OTHER ITEMS...

Postal rates going up 2 cents for letters, soon. And maybe no more Saturday mail deliveries.

China has been brought to my attention again. Specifically, the amount of money we owe China. Here's a hint; It's a LOT! And China isn't the only country we owe money to. It's just the country we owe the most to. But all this money we owe is another example of why we need to take care of business HERE, take care of people HERE and quit doing all this other expensive stuff ANYWHERE but HERE!!!

Did you hear about that Waterbury, Connecticut Roman Catholic priest who's been arrested for allegedly having stolen $1.3 million in church money to use for male escorts, etc.?

Question: Isn't it time....Maybe long past time....To reconsider this "celibacy" requirement that Catholic priests are required to adhere to? I mean, think about it....A guy who (supposedly) knows nothing about relationships between a man and a woman is giving counseling to a couple who are trying to save their marriage?

Just askin'...

ENTERTAINMENT STUFF...

A few nights ago, I finally saw a film that was a hit a couple of years or so ago. "The Proposal", starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. It's now playing on the cable channel STARZ.

I thought this was a fun-fun film to watch. I'm told it made good money and to me, it's easy to see why. If you haven't seen it, I recommend that you look for it on STARZ this month.

Last night, I saw two films on the cable channel, TMC. "The Girlfriend Experience" which was followed by, "Women in Trouble".

I remember reading about "The Girlfriend Experience" when it was released a year or so ago. The very fine director, Steven Soderbergh directed this film and what I remember most from the review I read was the comment that suprisingly, there was no nudity in this film.

The reason that comment/observation was made was/is because Soderbergh chose to hire a well known porn actress to play the lead. Her name is Sasha Grey and I had never heard of her or seen her before seeing her in Soderbergh's film. I thought she was terrific. She plays an "Escort" in this film and I thought she was charming, vulnerable and I ended up caring a lot about her character. All of that adds up to good acting.

After seeing "The Girlfriend Experience", I decided to google her. There are lots of pictures of her that are available for you to see. And none of them are showing the vulnerability I saw in Soderbergh's film. Her primary business is the "hard-core" business and in the pictures I saw of her showed her eyes to be "blank" and someone who was simply doing a job. In "The Girlfriend Experience", it's easy to get the idea this woman has the potential of being a fun date. And maybe she would be, but I'm inclined to think she's strictly a "show me the money" girl no matter what kind of relationship you might think you have with her.

Good film, though. Check it out on TMC.

Which is the same channel I saw, "Women in Trouble" last night. This film has an all-star (mostly women) cast but it also includes a very fun scene in which Josh Brolin is in. A whole lotta stuff going on regarding "Women in Trouble" and that is certainly the perfect title for this film.

When I say "all-star" cast, I'm not kidding. These are some great looking women and you will have a good time looking at and following the adventures of these great looking women.

More Bad Economic News! Sonia and the Second Amendment! "Gore The Groper"? Oprah for President? Blanket amnesty for illegal immigrants?

Are you getting ready for some fireworks? 4th of July this coming Sunday!

Meanwhile, plenty of fireworks here and more fireworks seem to be on the way.

I think today's (late by a day) blog will be more of a "notes" blog than it usually is. In other words, I'll probably be uncharacteristically brief with today's topics.

And in no particular order, here we go...

Uh, oh! More economic news! And it's all bad! You'll be reading about it and hearing about it. But if you're like me, you don't have to read or hear about it. You're FEELING it!!!

Because the company he works for allegedly wants him to take a pay cut, Ryan Seacrest might be getting out of the everyday aspect of the radio business. Is this something that anyone outside the radio industry even cares about?

After twenty five years, Larry King will leave the everyday aspect of the television talking business sometime in the next few months. King's top choice to be his replacement? Ryan Seacrest.

If you've been reading about those eleven so-called Russian spies that were recently arrested, you have probably also been reading all the attention that one of the "spies", Anna Chapman has been getting. Before getting arrested, Chapman was known for putting sultry pictures of herself on Facebook and videos on YouTube. Regulars at hot Manhattan night clubs she frequented thought she was a billionaire or a hooker. I'm not making that up. The first time I saw a picture of her and read the story about why she was arrested, I couldn't help but think of the James Bond film franchise. I mean, if she's a real spy, she already knows how to "ACT" and think of the extra publicity the new Bond film would get.

I've never written about the Second Amendment in this blog. That's the amendment in our Constitution that gives all American citizens "The Right To Bear Arms". As in, for the most part, guns. Sonia Sotomayor is our newest Supreme Court Justice or Judge. In a recent ruling that was related to the Second Amendment, her vote was part of the losing side of a 5-4 vote, a vote that she made that seems to show she might be against the Second Amendment. And that makes folks wonder if Elena Kagan, President Obama's choice to be our next new Supreme Court Justice is a person who might be against the Second Amendment.

Here's how I stand on the Second Amendment. I'm a gun owner. I have an "Enquiring Mind" negative curiosity regarding people who find it necessary to stockpile assault rifles and tremendous amounts of ammunition, but I (otherwise) wholeheartedly support the Second Amendment. Now here's why I'm writing about this subject for the first time; If President Obama, in his heart of hearts, wants to overturn the Second Amendment, that's NOT "The change you can believe in" that I supported when I voted for him!

Speaking of President Obama...I don't know if what Obama haters are saying about illegal immigration is true, but if it is....

IF... And this is a huge "IF", folks...If President Obama is about to seriously try to get a mass amnesty bill for illegal immigrants passed, I will admit to having made a serious mistake about voting for this guy and I would consider supporting any legal move to get him thrown out of office.

I'm big on "facts", folks! Let's see what the "facts" are, not rumors, before we go "crazy" over this rumor. Same deal with the Second Amendment allegations.

And how about some real "facts" regarding this Al Gore business. People who don't believe in Global Warming are loving the gossip stories that have emerged about Gore ever since he announced he was getting a divorce from his wife. Annnd (of course) this 4-year old "groping" allegation which was never pursued but has now been reopened for investigation by police in Portland. So let's all be ready for references to "Gore, the groper".

TWO MORE POLITICALLY RELATED MENTIONS BEFORE THOUGHTS ABOUT "KNIGHT and DAY"!

Afghanistan...I've been very clear about my position on this subject. I think that neither the Bush administration or the Obama administration have given us any good reason or reasons to be there for more than NINE YEARS and counting except for the original reason which was to capture and or kill Osama bin Laden. And by the way, how's that working out? We have the best military in the world and for more than nine years we haven't been able to find this guy?

Just for the sake of argument, let's assume there's a very GOOD reason we're there but that everyone we've elected during the last nine years or so is just too stupid to explain it to us.

And let's assume that this very good reason we're in Afghanistan is a military objective.

That means killing the enemy, folks. I mean, KILLING the enemy! Wiping them out! No mercy! And while we're doing this, don't be worrying about Afghanistan's health care, schools or anything else until the mission, the U.S. mission that two administrations think has been very important, is completed.

Now...If we CAN'T (for whatever reason) do the military mission, then damn it, get the hell out of there!

When are we as citizens of the greatest country in the world going to stand up to these so-called leaders we have and say, "ENOUGH!" ENOUGH with the concerns about people in places like Afghanistan and Iraq! ENOUGH! When are you, our leaders, going to concentrate on the problems, HUGE problems that WE have in THIS country? Problems that have absolutely NOTHING to do with improving the comfort zones of ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS, but in fact, have a LOT to do with getting them the hell OUT of here!"

Gang, we let that Bush group of incompetents run all over us. Are we going to continue to do that during this administration as well?

Here's the other political thing I want to throw out there:

My good friend Don Barrett (publisher-owner of LARadio.com) and I had one of our many long conversations the other day and the subject of "leadership" was brought up. And Don threw a name at me and wondered what I thought about this name as possibly be a serious candidate to be a future President of our United States.

OPRAH WINFREY!

Above all, Don likes her overall positive nature about things and he believes we need more of what she's usually selling, which is optimism.

Right after he mentioned her name, in the middle of telling my why he mentioned her name, Don interrupted himself and said to me, "Don't laugh at me!", to which I said, "I'm NOT laughing! I'm listening!"

And in my mind, I was saying, "Hmmmmm...."

"KNIGHT and Day"!

That's the title of the new Tom Cruise-Cameron Diaz film. I saw it last Friday. Some reviewers liked the film, some didn't, but all reviewers seem to agree on this; "Knight and Day" is a film for adults.

Here's my take on "Knight and Day". When the film begins, Tom Cruise lights up the screen immediately even when he isn't saying or doing anything except listening.

Cameron Diaz is a perfect partner for him to have in this film. Not because she's being a wallflower or subservient, but because she is the exact opposite of those things.

I will honestly tell you that this action-adventure comedy has more holes in it than any slices of Swiss Cheese that you'll have on your plate(s) and there will be times when while your watching that the words "That's preposterous!" will enter your brain. But folks, I gotta tell ya that in the big picture of your "enjoyment" none of the holes or preposterousness will matter. When I was leaving the Cineplex after the film had ended, one thing I heard a person say that stands out to me was this; "That was SO bad, it was GOOD!"

This movie's not gonna win any awards, folks. "Knight and Day" is simply a "Fun Film" and a film that I thoroughly enjoyed! Check it out!

THE NEXT BLOG? Barring unforseen circumstances, late Wednesday night, July 7.

Meanwhile, I hope that you and yours have a very happy and safe 4th of July weekend! And when you get a second, try to remember what the 4th of July is really about.

This Week's Blog Is Running Late!

Hi Everybody,

Because of other projects involving too many "late hours", I was unable to write this week's blog last night.

We have another big holiday (the 4th of July) this weekend, so this week's blog figures to be relatively short, but it WILL be posted no later that a few hours from now.

In other words, by 12 noon Pacific Time, 2pm Central Time and 3pm Eastern Time.

Topics will include the Second Amendment, Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants, an idea for that hot "Russian Spy", Oprah Winfrey, Larry King, and my thoughts about the new film, "Knight and Day".
